  • Case Study 1 - Mateo Giraldo

Mateo is a raptor biologist from Colombia and one of two that we supported with our grant “Discovering Raptors” as part of the “Discovering the Canopy” tree climbing training ran by Canopy Watch and Alianza Natural in South America. Mateo is a very active raptor biologist and this training will enable him to continue and advance his research into large raptors of Colombia. The photo below shows Mateo sat in an eagle nest collecting prey remains. Good luck Mateo!

  • Case Study 2 - Philippine Eagle Foundation

In 2017 we made our first trip out to the Philippine Eagle Foundation, returning again in 2019. We are proud to support such an iconic and rare species but also the amazing work the PEF achieve. We have been able to provide equipment and training and in 2021 ran a bespoke fundraising crowd fund which raised a fantastic £10,000. We look forward to continuing our partnership.

  • Case Study 3 - Striated Caracara & Katie Harrington

In 2021 we introduced a new grant titled “Rings for raptors” which involves providing funds to purchase colour rings. Katie Harrington is a raptor biologist from the US who is carrying out fascinating work studying Striated caracara’s on the Falkland Island’s. As part of this work to understand pair bonds and survival rates Katie is fitting colour rings/bands during the 2021/22 field season funded by Raptor Aid.
